Youth Sports Program The Youth Sports Program is for Elementary and Middle
School students attending Saginaw Public Schools. Teams are formed at the
schools and coached by volunteers, usually parents. Games are played on
Saturdays. Each sport has five weeks of regular season play. The Youth Sports
Program is designed to present students with the opportunity to learn the
fundamentals and rules of the sport, improve their skills and coordination,
experience team play while encouraging school spirit and pride, and to master
the basics of good sportsmanship. Each child will be asked to pay a $10
player fee. |

NEWS! - Floor Hockey Start DelayedThe start of the Floor
Hockey season has been pushed back to Saturday, February 17. This will allow
schools to finalize their teams. An additional Coach Meeting is scheduled for
Monday, February 12 at 5:30 PM at the Daniels Center. Teams should turn their
forms and fees into the Community Education offices at or before that
meeting. The schedule for games on the 17th will be distributed by email on
February 14. Boys Basketball Dates
The Community Education Youth
Sports Boys basketball season will begin on December 6. Games will be played
on December 13 & 20, January 10, 17 & 24. Tournaments for 4th &
5th grade and middle school leagues will be January 24 and January 31. Change in Football & Basketball Leagues
One change for this year
is that in the Flag Football, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball leagues,
the grade levels of the leagues have been changed. Second graders may now participate in these sports. The leagues
for these sports are now 2nd & 3rd graders in one league; 4th and 5th
graders in another. The 2nd/3rd grade leagues will use a smaller ball than
the 4th/5th graders will use. |
