Student Uniform Policy

Single Gender Classes

Longfellow Elementary is a K-5 school that has implemented a successful Single Gender class program.  Research shows that Single Gender Classes contribute to the following:

  1. Increased reading scores of boys.
  2. Better attendance for boys.
  3. Increase Math and Science achievement for girls.
  4. Increased leadership skills in girls.

Parents have been impressed with the success of the Single Gender Initiative at Longfellow and have recommended to friends and family to experience the advantages that Longfellow has to offer.  Parents are interested in finding out more about the advantages that single classes offer are welcome to come in at any time to speak with the building principal, Trent Mosley.

School Uniforms

Longfellow strives to be the best and in being the best we have to look our best. Longfellow has established a mandatory uniform policy. The uniforms colors were chosen by the parents of Longfellow with the assistance of the Longfellow Staff. Parents have commented daily on the overall positive school atmosphere and believe strongly that in addition to the caring and supportive staff that the school uniforms have made a huge difference in this area. Below is list of acceptable uniform wear:

Tops--MUST HAVE COLLARS (white, light blue)
girls--blouses or polos
boys--dress shirts, polo or button down shirts
Bottoms--NO JEANS OR SWEAT SUITS (dark blue, khaki/tan)
girls--jumpers, pants, knee length skirts or shorts
boys--pants or shorts
Sweaters--cardigans, pullovers, vests (dark blue)
Socks--NO PATTERNS (white, light blue or dark blue)
girls--socks or stockings
boys--socks
Shoes--NO TENNIS SHOES,  dress shoes only ( black or brown)
Belts--required for all pants (black or brown)

ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE PLAIN
(NO PATTERNS, CHARACTERS, OR EMBLEMS)
