Science Department
The Saginaw High Science department offers several levels of science courses that meet and exceed the Michigan Standards and Benchmarks.
Recently the State of Michigan issued new Content Expectations for the High School Science classes of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science. Students are required to pass 3 years of science classes, Biology and two others.
In high school the students start with Biology in the Ninth grade and then either go to Physical Science or Chemistry in tenth. From there they can go on to Physics, Human Biology, or Advanced Biology. The state is still evaluating some of the requirements and districts are in the process of making the tests to take at the end of each unit. Presently in Saginaw the District has end of semester exams ready for the students with the Testlets for each unit to be implemented second semester.
