Ms. Jeannine Coughlin  One of Five 2006 Saginawians of the Year

In 1993, the Trojan Band Program hardly existed.  With only thirteen members, the re-building process began.  Under the direction of Ms. Jeannine Coughlin, better known as Ms. J.C., the Mighty Marchin' Trojan Band has become one of the best bands in the state, known nationally as well as internationally.

The Trojan Band program consists of three levels of bands:  Band 9 for the beginning students, Varsity band for the intermediate students, and the Mighty  Marchin' Trojan Band and Drum Line.  The ultimate goal for students involved in the band program is to earn a position within the Mighty Marchin' Trojan Band.

Accomplishments by the Trojan Band:

· Rebuilt a program of thirteen students to well over two hundred.
· Traveled as far away as Atlanta, Georgia; Hampton, Virginia; and Knoxville  Tennessee for competition, earning first place ratings.
· Congressional Recognition for Washington, D.C. in 2001.
· Trojan Drum Line featured in the opening ceremonies for the PGA Ryder Cup Tournament in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in September, 2005.
· Made school history in 2005 when the band was accepted to perform in the Circle City Classic Parade in Indianapolis.  During their first time appearance, the Mighty Marchin' Trojan Band earned 2nd place out of 25 bands.
