About Our School
A total of 670 students in grades 6-8 grade  attend South Middle School. Daily attendance averages 86%. The principal is Mr. Craig McCane. There are 45 professional teaching staff members and 36 support personnel, including aides, custodians, and secretaries. Our PTO President is Chris Simon.

Accreditation
The District is proud of the school's efforts over the years to earn and maintain state accreditation. At this time, all district schools are accredited. Currently, the state is working to revise accreditation
standards. As more is known about these new standards, the District is prepared to move quickly to ensure continued accreditation status.

Mission Statement
The South Middle School staff will provide a comprehensive education to all students. The staff will provide for students' social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs, as well as their interests and special talents. Success will be monitored through input and feedback from students, parents, and the staff of the high schools they will attend.

Goals
1. South Middle School students will complete the standards and benchmark
requirements related to career and employability skills, academic skills,
and knowledge of self and others.
2. South Middle School will implement the Baldrige framework for performance
and excellence.
3. Students' MEAP scores and other standardized tests in reading, writing,
mathematics, science and social studies will improve.
4. South Middle School will have an operable emergency committee whose
sole function will be to develop, implement, and monitor climate and safety
issues.
