South Middle Schools Latin Image Choir and Dance Clubs performed over twenty events at schools, churches, and community buildings during 2003- 2004. About six hundred students participated in programs operated by Jr. REAP. This program includes intramural and extracurricular activities and continues to provide for a transition between the elementary and middle schools. Parent Involvement One of the most important factors in a child's success in school is the involvement of parents or guardians in the education process. South Middle School has a high degree of parental involvement. 45% of our parents attended our fall parent-teacher conferences, and 36% attended our spring conferences.

"The professional staff at South Middle School is extremely pleased with the progress made on our 2000-2001 Annual Program Plan. We are very proud of the transition from junior high to middle school and the stabilization of an environment which has been conducive to meeting the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of the preadolescents we serve. Further, we feel that parental and community involvement must be increased to ensure academic achievement and the development of adult roles."
